| 892. Kasteel Chillon: Aan het meest oostelijke deel van het meer van Genève gelegen vind je dit kasteel. Sinds het bronstijdperk staat op deze plaats een vorm van kasteel. Vanuit deze positie op het natuurlijke eiland hield men de controle over het verkeer tussen Noord- en Zuid-Europa. In zijn huidige staat is het een opsomming van meerdere eeuwen bouwen, aanpassen, renoveren en restoreren. Rond 1150 is er voor het eerst sprake van een geschreven tekst over dit bastion. Dit was de Savoy periode die duurde tot 1536. In 1536 ging het over in handen van de Berner Oberlanders, dit duurde tot 1789. Hierna viel het in handen van de Vauds. From the bronz age unwards this site has been occupied by a form of castle. From this position on it's antural island one kept control of the traffic between North- and South-Europe. In it's current state it is a continium of several ages of building, adapting, renovating and restoration. Arround 1150 the first written document of this rampart was written. This was the Savoy period which lasted untill 1536. In 1536 it was seized by the Bernese, this lasted till 1789. From then onwards it was controled by the Vauds.
